Stone Mountain Rail Road to The Zero Mile Marker - a project for CSX
A million yards of dirt had to be moved. Twenty-four hours a day a caravan of dump trucks carried out the daunting task. Upon completion, then Governor Joe Frank Harris and the National Democratic Convention Delegates rode the inaugural run with the late George Blount (son of the founder of Blount Construction) along with the entire project management team on board.

Savannah , GA
A swamp had to be dried out. Beginning literally with a knee deep frog pond in the shoulder of the existing road, Blount Construction Company prepared the area to enable the building of a new road.

Big Canoe, Georgia
The grade was so steep on this job that it was extremely difficult to get the big machines up the mountain so they had to be taken off the tractor trailers and driven up the roadway. The Big Canoe residents called the management company to compliment Blount Construction on how fast the roadway was resurfaced and how little they were inconvenienced.

The Natchez Trace Parkway project...
originally was bid to use foamed asphalt, an additive that worked well for the first 1,500 ft, but work stopped when the crew encountered unexpected variances in soil and moisture conditions. For the next 1,000 ft, hydrated lime was applied in an attempt to dry up the soil, but durability and density requirements could not be satisfied. Finally, contractors successfully incorporated approximately 8,400 tons of cement to complete 30 miles of pavement.
